Well here it is July 5 and our kitchen is STILL NOT finished!!! The only thing left is to repaint the kitchen and replace some supports under the bar that were not the correct ones. The majority of the work was finished in March, but for some reason we cannot get the final details finished. We are very pleased with our new cabinets although we did lose some storage space. And LOVE the counter tops. And we can now get into both ovens and open the refrigerator all the way. So, there are a lot of positive things here, but we are just frustrated about the length of time it is taking to have the kitchen complete.
The guy that did most of the work was going to paint for us in his free time, but looks like he is unable to do so and we now have to find someone else to come in and do the painting. I cannot wait to get rid of the old wallpaper and have a bright kitchen!
One thing where we screwed up - we were told that the remaining detail such as the supports under the bar were considered a "maintenance" item and that all the work was finished. So "go ahead and sign off on the project" which means that they have completed the job and we are happy with the results. We were promised that they would reorder the correct parts and come install them when they arrived. So of course we signed off on it and now here we are 3 months later with it not complete. Lesson Learned: do NOT sign off until the project is COMPLETE!!! No matter what they tell you. And this is supposed t be a reputable company (Sears). BTW- I would not recommend them to anyone....
